Kia ora, my name is Jasmine, welcome to my journey!

I am a whole lot of things, but most importantly I am always learning as a means to understanding my pathway. For My Wairua is about finding an inner sense of peace within my Wairua (Spirit) as I share my story, whatever that looks like. My creative endeavors are the cornerstone of my own healing process; Through podcasts, writing, creating art and understanding Rongoa I am able to create to heal myself. Through the process of creating to heal self I hope to help others heal to create.

I really wanted to start creating home made products for my pepi and our whanau as a way to understand the Ngahere (forest). During this Rahui season, I have taken it upon myself to understand the ancestral knowledge of Rongoa and have started my journey with Kawakawa leaf.

This Kawakawa balm is a great skincare product for all types of skin and can be used on all parts of your body. It is great for skin irritation, dry skin and eczema. I hope that you feel the healing of this natural taonga as I have.

WHAT IS IN KAWAKAWA BALM?

Everything is created in my whare and locally sourced

KAWAKAWA

Kawakawa is a native leaf and has great benefits for the skin. It has been known to be great for digestive health and toothaches. I have started popping a few leaves in with boiling water as a night time brew.

OIL

I use a range of Olive and Organic Coconut oils to enhance the healing properties of the Kawakawa. Initially the product will feel oily, but it absorbs beautifully into the skin and leaves skin feeling moist and smelling devine.

LOCALLY SOURCED BEESWAX

I am intentional about supporting local where I can, and have made it my mission to buy beeswax from Aotearoa. The wax melts down beautifully and marries with the Kawakawa to create a distinct scent and healing combination.

A WHOLE LOTTA AROHA

This Kawakawa balm is made with a lot of love and appreciation for the natural environment and all that it has to offer us. The process of making the balm is rewarding and completely intuitive as it guides me in the journey of healing.

ARTWORK

Artwork from previous exhibitions

DUALITY

This is one piece I worked on as a collection of wider work that I exhibited in 2019 at a local cafe in Lower Hutt, Wellington. I am passionate about interupting spaces to actively promote Te Ao Maori, something that I have often felt in my own life.

THE FIRST WOMEN

This piece is a reflection of the significance that Te Ao Maori and Christianity play in my life, acknowledging the beginning Wahine that created a way for me to navigate this world.

I am always keen to wananga with others who are creating spaces for creatives to exhibit and I am keen to tautoko others in their creative pursuits.

KORERO MAI

For My Wairua Blog | WordPress

I started writing on this blog in 2016, after feeling incredibly frustrated about some of the discrepancies I was internalising about being Maori in a modern world. Since then, this blog has evolved into a space where I write from my Puku. A space where I write what my Wairua wants me to write. follow the link https://wordpress.com/home/formywairua.wordpress.com because this is being hoha and I can't sort out the connection between this site and the blog. lol.
